Approach
My style of therapy is:
Collaborative: You know yourself and what brings you to therapy, and I know how to help foster change. It’s key that we work together in order to get you to where you want to go.
Supportive & Direct: I’ll be in your corner, hold space for what you need, and make sure you feel understood; yet, you can also expect moments when I’ll be respectfully frank. There’ll also be times when I’ll encourage you to try something new or view things from a different perspective.
Respectful & Relational: I value building respectful, trusting relationships with clients, and I work to create a safe and welcoming space where client’s feel at ease. Study after study shows that the strength of the therapeutic alliance largely determines treatment outcomes. Thus, I periodically check in with clients regarding our work together and the therapeutic relationship.
Genuine & Casual: I’m authentic in my work and practice with openness and humility. Meaning, who I am as a person imbues the professional care I provide, and I operate from a curious, receptive, and compassionate place. Therapy work is serious work, but the process shouldn’t feel stuffy, overly clinical or detached. Our work together will be dynamic and grounded in a strong relationship, as mentioned above.
Flexible: I adapt my approach to best meet each client’s specific needs in a culturally responsive and integrative way.
What sessions may look like:
Much of what we'll do is have exploratory conversations to assist you in increasing insight of yourself. We'll work together to foster awareness of your thoughts, emotions, and patterns to understand how these patterns affect you. With this awareness, we'll establish your personalized goals and work to meet these goals so you can create the change you want in your life.
